About Buckeyes Against Alzheimer’s

Our Mission

Alzheimer’s Disease is one of the most prevalent diseases throughout the world. It is a subcategory of dementia in which there are various problems associated with memory, cognition, and action-management. The dire need for Alzheimer’s Disease activism stems from its insidious etiology — it is a very slow, but nevertheless progressive disease that affects many people. Our goal is not only to spread awareness of this disease, but also to contribute to the fight against Alzheimer’s Disease. As a strong community, we wish to understand, combat, and overcome this disease through service, innovation, and creativity.

Who We Are

We are an undergraduate organization at The Ohio State University devoted to promoting awareness, grasping understanding, and serving our community to combat Alzheimer’s Disease. We engage in seminars, weekly volunteering, and bi-weekly meetings in order to develop not only a strong foundation on which to develop ideas, but also to gain appreciation and a deeper care for our community.

Our History

Founded in Spring Semester 2015, Buckeyes Against Alzheimer’s is a student group at The Ohio State University fixated on education about the disease and service of those afflicted. This group is dedicated to all those with Alzheimer’s Disease, their family members, and all those who wish to find a cure. We have volunteered at the Inn at Olentangy for the past year and a half and have attracted multiple high profile speakers in our short existence. Our members are passionate about our volunteer work and enriched by the educational aspect of our club. We hope to do our part regardless of how small to help spread awareness and find a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease.
