Talk Title: Social Outcomes after Acquired Childhood Brain Injury: Intersection of Behavior and Functional Activation

Abstract:Following acquired childhood brain injury, survivors are at risk for psychosocial morbidities including poor social adjustment. Emerging research aims to bridge neuroscientific methods with assessment of these sequelae, but faces the challenge of assessing social constructs within the artificial environment of MRI. Here, we report on recent efforts to address this challenge via: 1) development of socially-relevant fMRI paradigms; and 2) integration with psychometrically robust assessment measures; as illustrated in survivors of pediatric malignancy and traumatic brain injury.

The CCBBI Talk Series is open to all. Come join us Friday, November 1st, 2019 from 1-2pm in PS 35. The presentation will be live-streamed and recorded in collaboration with the OnNeuro platform, check it out here!
