Talk Title: Social cognition and working memory in pediatric brain tumor survivors: What does functional activation tell us?

Abstract:Pediatric brain tumor survivors are at risk for deficits in social cognition and working memory even years following treatment. We evaluated a chief measure of social cognition, Theory of Mind, with a functional task in addition to two novel paradigms examining social and cognitive working memory. Task accuracy was further paired with network-based analysis targeting the Default Mode, Mentalizing, and Central Executive networks. This talk will discuss the results of this promising pilot study as well as future implications for the field of pediatric cancer.

The workshop is open to all. Research assistants, graduate students and postdocs are encouraged to attend. Workshops will involve a short presentation of work (15-25 minutes) with an extended discussion at the end. The presentations will be live-streamed and recorded in collaboration with the OnNeuro platform, check it out here!

Join us in LZ 120 for some snacks and science on February 21st!
