The Disability Studies Undergraduate Final Project Contest

Theme:

Innovation and Intersectionality: Moving the Field Forward

Description:

In response to the ways the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed and emphasized intersectional oppressions, especially as they relate to disability and accessibility, The Disability Studies Graduate Student Association (DSGSA), in partnership with Disability Studies Quarterly (DSQ) and the Multiple Perspectives Conference, aims to recognize exceptional undergraduate disability studies final projects from across the state of Ohio. We’re seeking undergraduate final projects (i.e., traditional essays, multimodal videos, narrated presentations) that make inventive contributions to the field of disability studies.

Projects should pay critical attention to issues of intersectionality and access, and we are especially eager to recognize projects that prioritize accessibility in their formatting and design. Projects may be in any form—text, audio, visual, or multimodal—but should fall within the constraints of 5-10 minutes or 5-10 pages double spaced (1,250-2,500 words).

Prizes:

First place: $150 and the opportunity to work with DSQ editors to revise your project and prepare it for possible publication in DSQ’s new community-scholar blog.

Second place: $100

Third place: $50

Submission Process:

To submit your project online, please use this Qualtrics survey to upload your project and contact information. The deadline for submissions is April 8th, 2022.
