The Ohio State University Kendo Club exists to allow students and members of the community to gather and participate in one of Japan’s oldest and most respected martial arts. Practitioners can learn more about Japanese culture and history while practicing forms, sparring with friends, and engaging in optional team competitions. We strive to push our members to be self-disciplined, honorable, and confident.

When you join our club you quickly become part of our kendo family. Friendships blossom amidst the sweat and tears of battle and swordplay. In addition to practicing and participating in tournaments, we have weekly “2nd dojo” where members go out for food and drinks after a hard practice. We also hold fun events throughout the year, like paintball, laser tag, and house parties and put on cultural demonstrations for the Japanese Student Organization at OSU, local schools, and clubs. Everyone is encouraged to participate beyond just coming to practice; get involved by becoming a club officer and hanging out outside of kendo!
