A Note from Mitchell

Hello all!

As this past Thursday marked my final event with the club, I wanted to write a note to all the wonderful members who made the past two years with Rock Music Club such a joy. As founder and president, I saw the club take off and evolve from its earliest meetings on Zoom, and I am more than proud of what we have achieved since then. Together, we reached new heights and took the club to places I never thought possible.

While graduating and leaving Rock Music Club behind is a sad experience for me, I am glad to know I made an impact, no matter how small, here at Ohio State. And more importantly, I know the club is in good hands with its new leaders and members, all of whom I am happy to call friends. Raylee, Charlie, and Joey will keep the club going strong in the future, and it would not be possible in the first place if not for the support of all our wonderful members. It has been amazing to see just how much music brings people together; rock ‘n’ roll never dies!

It has been a privilege to serve as your president. Keep rocking!

Karaoke Night!

Hello all!

We are excited to announce our very first collaborative meeting, a karaoke event hosted by none other than Bad Singers Karaoke Club! Ourselves, in addition to Musicians’ Collective and Vinyl Club, will be joining BSKC at 8:30 PM this Thursday, October 20, to sing some tunes together. It’s also a great chance to find out more about the other clubs, which have a lot of overlapping interests!

Weather permitting, the meeting will take place at the amphitheater by Mirror Lake, though can be moved into Independence Hall if necessary. We hope to see you all there!

Rock Music Club Thanks the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

On behalf of the entire Rock Music Club here at Ohio State, we want to extend a sincere thank you to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland for offering us the chance to visit this past weekend. Our members had a fantastic time and the experience was as fun as it was educational. For many who attended, it was their first time to the Hall, completing a rock pilgrimage which will remain with them forever. Thank you to all of the wonderful people at the Hall who facilitated the trip and made it all possible; you are the true rock stars!

Mitchell Feiler, President of Rock Music Club

Hang Out on the Oval

Greetings! We are nearing the midpoint of the semester; time flies!

As we are in the heat of midterm season and stress is high, we figured it would be a great idea to hold our Thursday meeting outside on the Oval to enjoy the nice weather today and relax with everyone. Bring a picnic blanket if you have one. Additionally, we have a fun activity planned for everyone to participate in, which we cannot wait to share. We will update you on the exact location on the Oval via GroupMe.

Also, if you are coming on the trip to the Rock Music Hall this Saturday (October 8), do not forget to send your $5 travel fee via Venmo if you have not already. Can’t believe the trip is nearly here!

Rock on!!!

Rock Music Club Visits the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Hello fellow rockers!

We have some big news to share with you. On October 8, Rock Music Club will be making a trip to Cleveland for a visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! This is an exciting educational opportunity and we are beyond thrilled to share it with you. If you would like to go on the trip, please see the required Google form attached at THIS LINK.

There are some important notes about this trip. First, to attend, you must pay dues (either via Venmo or with cash at our next meeting). Additionally, we will be providing further information about logistics at our meeting this upcoming Thursday, September 22. If you are planning on coming on the trip, you must let us know no later than 12 PM ET this upcoming Friday, September 23. This will give the Hall time to prepare for our arrival to make it a great experience for us.

We are happy to answer any questions you have and cannot wait to share this experience with everyone. Thank you, and see you Thursday!

Autumn 2022 Introductory Meeting!

Get ready for our first meeting of the semester! This is a great chance for everyone to get to know each other, as well as a chance for us to give you all some information about what we’ve got planned for the semester.

We’ll be in 335 Campbell Hall on Thursday, September 8 at 5:30 PM, and we’ll be making a playlist of all your favorite tunes! We will also just be hanging out and having a good time. Who knows…maybe there will be snacks! We hope to see you there. Rock on!

Fall 2022 Announcements

Greetings all!

The fall semester is officially underway, and we hope everyone is easing into their classes. We have a few announcements to share with everyone as we build towards our first meeting of the year.

Firstly, we will be at the Student Involvement Fair this upcoming Sunday, August 28 from 4-7 PM. We will be at Table 2, located in the special interest section (dark green). This is a great chance to learn more about who we are, what we do, or just catch up! We hope to see you there.

Secondly, our first meeting of the new academic year will take place on Thursday, September 8 at 5:30 PM. We are once again in 335 Campbell Hall, so for our returning members, it is the same location as the spring semester. It will be a great chance for everyone to introduce themselves, and we have some fun activities planned to break the ice for the new semester.

Lastly, we will take a look at the Rock Music Club leadership team for this autumn! The treasurer position is now occupied by Joey Feinberg, the vice president position is now held by Raylee Smith, and the club president is Mitchell Feiler. Do not hesitate to reach out to any of us with questions! Another great way to get in touch with us is by email at rockmusicclubosu@gmail.com, where we are happy to handle any inquiries.

We have a smattering of ideas for club activities this year, and are hoping to provide a far more engaging experience than this organization has ever seen before. We cannot wait to get started. Rock on!

Rock Music Club Announces Winner of Treasurer Election

Hello all!

At our last meeting on April 7, we held a vote for an opening at the treasurer position for the 2022-2023 academic year. Today we are officially announcing the winner: Joey Feinberg! We are looking forward to welcoming him to the officer team and cannot wait to get started on planning for the next semester.

We would like to give an additional thanks to our other wonderful candidates, all of whom were more than qualified for the role. We love you!

The management team going into next semester will be as follows:

President: Mitchell Feiler

Vice President: Raylee Smith

Treasurer: Joey Feinberg

Stay engaged with us on our Instagram (@rockmusicclubosu) over the next few months; we will see you again in the fall! Rock on, friends.

Thank You for Such a Great Year!

To all of our amazing members,

We want to say thank you for such an incredible year! It was our first year being in-person, and we could not be happier to have met all the new faces who joined Rock Music Club this year. We achieved some great things over the last two semesters, from bringing in a guest speaker this spring to relaxing and jamming on the Oval in the fall. Without your continued interest and support, Rock Music Club would not be what it is today. We wish everyone luck as finals season approaches and hope everyone stays safe and healthy this summer. We will see everyone again in the fall!

Rock on.

Final Meeting of the Semester: THE JAM

For our last meeting of the spring 2022 semester (and the 2021-2022 academic year, for that matter), Rock Music Club will be hosting THE JAM. This is something we have long wanted to do and we’re happy to be able to make it happen. Bring your instrument of choice to 335 Campbell Hall at 5:30 PM this Thursday (4/7) and we’ll rock out together.

Important note: we will be keeping ourselves at a reasonable volume as a courtesy to others in the building.

REMINDER: we are fielding applications for the treasurer position in advance of the 2022-2023 academic year. This Thursday we will be holding a vote for the opening after the candidates speak to the club. If you’re interested, send us a DM (@rockmusicclubosu) or an email (rockmusicclubosu@gmail.com). We are happy to provide additional information.

Until Thursday, fellow rockers.
ROCK ON!
