Power to End Stroke Expectations

The Power to End Stroke Initiative empowers pharmacy students through patient and survivor advocacy, implement educational events, and promote social change to establish health equities in communities at higher risk of stroke and cardiovascular diseases. This initiative allows student pharmacists the opportunity to advocate for the pharmacy profession in making sure our patients are adhering to their medication to reduce stroke risk.

    • 4 “events” per school year
      • At least one in-person event
      • At least one GBM
      • At least one community outreach event
      • At least one surge challenge (can choose from any month)
  • At least one event has to be done in autumn semester to avoid backlogging
  • Utilize the PTES Supplemental Guide found on the SNPhA National website (snpha.org) in order to plan and organize the events
  • Maintain strong communication ties with the SNPhA National PTES Chair in ensuring the viability of chapter projects and events and attend conference calls held by the National Chair
  • Participate in World Stroke Day on October 29th, Go Red for Women Day on the first Friday of February and National Stroke Month in May by organizing awareness events in the college and/or out in the community
  • Work with other initiatives to plan group events together in the college and/or community
  • Submit event proposal plans to the vice-president and secretary as soon as the event is planned and finalized so the VP and Secretary can advertise the events
  • Submit event reporting forms to the vice-president and secretary no later than one week after the event has occurred or 2 days before the end of the month, whichever comes first. 
    • 3 pictures MUST be included in the report form the event to count.
  • Attend all monthly chair meetings. If you are unable to attend, you MUST notify the Vice President before the meeting with your excused reason (work does not count as an excused reason).
  • Engage in continued communication with the VP regarding latest happenings with the initiative
  • Must attend 6 out of the 8 General Body Meetings per semester (number of meetings subject to change depending on the semester). If you are unable to attend, you MUST notify the Vice President before the meeting with your excused reason (work does not count as an excused reason).
  • Each initiative has a $50 budget/year for materials/supplies for hosting events. Keep your purchase receipt and show the Treasurer to be reimbursed.
