On Saturday night, join us for a networking reception from 7:00-9:00pm featuring keynote speaker, Dr. Lucy Spelman.  Hors d’oeuvres will be served and Dr. Spelman has agreed to do a book signing of her book, The Rhino With Glue-on Shoes.  Location to be announced!

Wet-labs:

Wildlife Disease and Necropsy: In this lab, participants will learn proper techniques for performing a necropsy and investigating diseases and mortality in wildlife species from Dr. Karen Terio, chief of the Zoological Pathology Program at the University of Illinois.

Shark and Ray Medicine: In this lab, participants will learn diagnostic techniques for sharks and rays, including ultrasound, blood draws, and more from Dr. Katie Seeley of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.  After learning and practicing these techniques, participants will have the opportunity to perform a full dissection on shark and ray specimens to learn internal anatomy of these amazing animals.

Zoo Radiology: Lead by Dr. Eric Hostnik, assistant professor at the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine and member of the Chicago Zoological Society’s Radiology Consulting Service. Participants of the zoo radiology lab will learn proper positioning and technique for taking radiographs and other imaging techniques of zoo and exotic species!  This lab will involve both lecture and hands-on opportunities in our veterinary medical center.

We will also have raffles and giveaways from RodentPro and Zilla!
