Q1: What activities/organizations are you involved with in the College of Pharmacy?
This year I wanted to get really involved with the school and joined a lot of organizations. The ones that I have put most of my time in is with CPNP, APhA and Kappa Psi.
Q2: How did you get here? Describe your path. When did you know you wanted to do pharmacy?
I worked in my family’s restaurant for the majority of my life and I’ve seen so many people come through the restaurant throughout the years and I was able to follow the developments of their live. As I was growing older, I’d see many family friends and customers grow older and become ill. I already had valuable customer service skills and wanted to use them in a way to help out others. That’s how I decided that pharmacy was the route I wanted to go.
Q3: What would you like to do in pharmacy? What is your dream job in pharmacy practice?
I don’t know what I am doing yet with my future in pharmacy, but I am currently interested in working in a hospital setting. I would love to work in a setting that would be continuously stimulating and would be able to experience something new each day.
Q4: In what ways do you feel like you’ve most grown during your time in the College of Pharmacy?
Since beginning my time at the College of Pharmacy, I think I grown more as a person. From being tossed into an entirely new group of people to understanding pharmacy as a whole, this experience so far has been an eye opener for myself and where I picture myself in the future.
Q5: What has been the most difficult thing for you to accomplish during Pharmacy school so far?
I think the most difficult thing that I accomplished here during Pharmacy school is stepping in the arena to compete with all the capable students around me. We all want to do our best and create a future for ourselves, and sometimes that involves running for leaderships positions or applying for competitive jobs. With all the amazing students here in the school, you’re never guaranteed anything, and I am just proud of myself for tossing my hat into the ring.
Q6: If you had to give one piece of advice to your fellow classmates, what would that be?
Everyone here is motivated to be involved and to develop themselves to become better pharmacists, and that itself is overwhelming. Each time that I finish one task, others have already done more, I think that is what’s the most difficult for me. But it’s accepting that even though not everyone is moving at the same pace, we all end up at the same destination. Just got to do what you best!
