Over the winter of 2020, our organization created a YouTube channel, with specific introductory videos for the first chemical engineering class at Ohio State, CBE 2200.
The driving force for these videos was having others students help students learn! These first videos help guide new students as to where the material they are learning will reappear in CBE 2200, future courses at Ohio State, and possibilities in their career!
Our October newsletter is out now! You can find it below, or find previous versions under the home tab!
AIChE Newsletter October 2020
We had a great event with well over 100 participants! We are happy to see the turnout with the semester moving online. In the meeting we talked about the open freshman social chair position, the multitude of committees we have, and the plans for the semester!
Details about mentorship, committe updates, the discord server, and the minecraft server will be coming out in the next couple of weeks!
The powerpoint from the meeting will be sent out through the mailing list.
As some of you may see, the website has drastically changed from what it was before. We have updated the visuals and graphics for better readability as well as some of the content and where it is located. With COVID-19 moving a lot of interactions to online spaces, we wanted to make sure our website was as clear as can be for what we are doing as an organization in the coming semester. Some of the more important updates are showcased below.
Under the programs tab, there are now detailed lists of typical events (social, professional, volunteering, etc…) that we hold every typical year. This is to give you an idea of what our organization actually does throughout a semester. Under the officers tab, we now have faces of all of our officers, as well as detailed About Me pages if you click on their beautiful faces. With less chances to meet our officers in-person, having these pictures and more detailed descriptions is a way for you to learn what we actually look like, what we like and do, as well as give you reasons to reach out and potentially chat with us about some of the experiences or hobbies we wrote about.
As well as the emailing list and our social media accounts, the website will also now showcase future events on the home page as well as the event calendar. Without the breathtaking experience of waiting for the elevator and watching the slideshow in CBEC to learn about AIChE activities, we wanted another way to make sure you know what events we are planning. The website will now also feature recaps of all of the events we hold. This will just be a brief summary about what we did, the results of the event if there were any, and potentially some pictures to show you what happened. If you missed an event, this is a way to learn about what it was and see if you’d want to attend the next one. The website will also feature updates about parts of the organization, such as this post! The three most recent updates and recaps as well as the closest three upcoming events are showcased on our home page.
With COVID-19 and the universities pandemic policies, most of our events are not going to look the same. This semester, maybe more than most, we are making plans and events to safely involve as many people as we can in the organization. With the difficulties of online learning, we are striving to give as many tools for success and connections to each other as we can provide. You can learn about the details of our upcoming semester at our first virtual general body meeting, but if you can’t make it, we will make sure you know what is going to be going on!
We thank everyone for their continued support of each other and this organization, and we wish you safe, healthy, and happy times.
Welcome back, Buckeyes.
