AMO Involve 2023
AMO Involve is here! We want you to join The Aviation Management Organization this coming year! With tons of fun speakers, trips, and experiences planned, you won’t want to miss out on what’s to come!
Why Join AMO?
No matter your major, AMO is great for anyone interested or potentially interested in aviation. We have meetings two to three times a month that include either a speaker, an aviation related activity, or an occasional non-aviation related event for fun. We focus on covering as many aviation topics as we can, helping our members work on their professional development, and providing networking opportunities. We also offer a handful of tours every semester (Examples of past tours from SP’23 include ATSG in Wilmington, the Goodyear Blimp in Akron, Hartzell Propeller in Piqua, Dean Baldwin Aircraft Paining in Indiana, and CVG). Tours are both local and far, require a minimal one time membership fee, and transportation is always arranged. We also have spontaneous social events such as ice skating and dinner after meetings, and events like our 2022 Blue Jackets night with NetJets. These events are a great way to connect with other aviation students which is always fun as we make up a small portion of such a large university.
What to expect in AMO 2023-2024
We are planning on starting the year off with a few local tours around Columbus and we already have speakers scheduled for early September. We will try to have a few tours that are farther away, such as (potentially) Louisville Airport, and are intending to continue and build off of the unique social environment that we started last year. We plan on allowing members opportunities to network with industry professionals at industry night and a tentative networking night in the Spring. We want to make sure all of our members have an up to date LinkedIn by the end of the year and hope to assist as many people as possible with getting internships or preparing for internship interviews. We also hope that we are able to act as a space for members to interact and find friends. We are still growing and are extremely open to implementing any ideas that new members may have!
What to expect in weekly AMO meetings
Our meetings are always one hour long at nighttime and we try very hard to stay within our time slot as we know many people have busy schedules. However, we do tend to go over time if we have a really cool speaker. We sometimes do an ice breaker if we have a lot of newer members, but otherwise will spend 10-15 minutes going over current events in aviation and introducing what we are going to be doing. We then either hear from a speaker or do something fun. There is always time for questions and or presenting.
