President: Katie Sharp

Katie Sharp (she/her) is a second year DMA student at The Ohio State University studying with Katherine Borst Jones. She currently serves as a Graduate Teaching Associate in Flute and previously taught in Music Theory, Aural Skills, and Musicology. With over five years teaching experience, Katie maintains an active studio and works with local schools as a clinician. She has worked with students of all ages, meeting them where they’re at to grow a lifelong passion for music. Katie’s other primary flute teachers include George Pope, Randy Hester, and Dr. Nicole Charles.

Aside from teaching, Katie serves as the President for the Central Ohio Flute Association. She is an active performer in Columbus, performing the Nielsen Flute Concerto as a winner of the 2022 Ohio State Concerto Competition. In 2021, she was a co-winner of the PANdemonium4 Virtual Flute Competition in the collegiate division. A member of the OSU Graduate Wind Quintet, Katie can be found performing across the state of Ohio

Vice President: Coral Varian

 

Coral Varian (she/her) is a second year Master of Arts student in music theory at The Ohio State University. She currently holds a graduate teaching associate position where she teaches undergraduate Music Theory and Aural Training courses in addition to her course work and research. Coral also holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from The Ohio State University and remains an active member of the flute studio.

Treasurer: Jonathan Mitchell (he/him)

Jonathan Mitchell is a second-year master student in flute performance and composition. This year, he is serving as the Treasurer for The Central Ohio Flute Association. Within the School of Music, Jonathan serves as a School of Music Ambassador as well as a tutor for several subjects through the OSU collegiate chapter of the National Association for Music Education. In addition to education, Jonathan has recently taken up composition and hopes to pursue it in the future.

Lance is currently a third year dual degree student in Music Education and Flute Performance. He is currently performing in the OSU Wind Symphony, as well as a flute and horn duo.

Co-Website Manager: Shreeya Yampati (she/her)

Shreeya Yampati is a third-year dual degree student in Flute Performance and Neuroscience at The Ohio State University. She is this year’s Website Manager for COFA. Shreeya enjoys playing in various ensembles at OSU including Wind Symphony, Flute Troupe, and a Clarinet and Flute duo. In her free time, she likes to bake, spend time with her friends at the mall, and read books.

Co-Website Manager: Laurinda Lan (she/her)

 

Laurinda is a second-year student pursuing a BA in Music and dual BS degrees in Astronomy & Astrophysics and Physics at The Ohio State University. She enjoys performing with the OSU Flute Troupe and various small ensembles, and she is also studying jazz flute under Dr. Robert Brooks. In addition to her musical studies, Laurinda is actively involved in astronomy outreach and research, combining her passions for science, music, and community engagement.

Publicity and Social Media Chairs: Karis Brennan (she/her)

Karis was elected to fulfill the publicity position of COFA in 2024-2025. She is pursuing both a BA in Music with a concentration in performance, and a dual degree in Studio Art. She has received various performance and artistic achievement awards and honors, including the John Philip Sousa Award. Karis is also an active member of the Ohio State Flute Troupe, and is involved with campus ensembles and chamber groups. She is also an honorary member of Phi Kappa Lambda, and an active member of the OSU Ornithology club. In her free time, Karis enjoys knitting, birding, gardening, and hiking.

 

 

Co-Exhibit Coordinator: Kaleigh Rummel

Kaleigh Rummel is a first-year Doctor of Musical Arts student at The Ohio State University studying with Katherine Borst Jones. She holds a Bachelor of Music in flute performance, as well as a Master of Music and Master of Arts Administration, all from Ohio University. While at Ohio University, Kaleigh served as the graduate assistant for the flute studio and studied with Alison Sincoff. With over four years of teaching experience, she has taught flute for the Athens Community Music School and Logan High School and has served as adjunct professor of flute at Marietta College and West Virginia University Parkersburg prior to her doctoral studies. Aside from teaching, she is an active performer in the Columbus area where performs regularly with The Ohio State University Wind Symphony and Flute Troupe and the Favre Woodwind Quintet.

In addition to her performance and teaching work, Kaleigh manages internal operations for Chamber Music Columbus and is dedicated to fulfilling their mission to bring world-class chamber music to Central Ohio. This year she is serving as the co-exhibit coordination for the Central Ohio Flute Association. Outside of her professional endeavors, Kaleigh is passionate about strength training and is currently pursuing her personal training certification. She also enjoys baking, crocheting, and spending time with her two cats, Callie and Peanut Butter.

Nic Digena is a third-year undergraduate working towards a Bachelor in Music Education. Working as the facilities coordinator for COFA for the past three years, Nic handles all the logistics of preparing the facilities and helping the event run the day of. Nic is a member of the Symphonic Band on piccolo and Flute Troupe on Alto Flute, and enjoys painting and cycling during free time!
