Meeting 3: Discussion of Nicotine
This meeting was discussion based and more open-ended in nature versus previous meetings. Thus, not all of our discussion is found in the slides below. To summarize, we carefully distinguished nicotine (the addictive component found in tobacco products) from other carcinogens found in tobacco products. We instead focused our attention on whether small doses of nicotine gum could serve as a stimulant to improve cognitive and physiological performance. We discussed potential downsides to using nicotine gum. We also discussed a few previous studies exploring this potential relationship and explored our thoughts relating to key findings. We finished the meeting by discussing intuitive eating through a ted-talk video and explored the idea of set-point and crash diets.
