Columbus, Ohio (June 4, 2020) – Recently, FIRST® Alumni and Robotics at Ohio State was awarded with two student organization awards from the Office of Student Life and the College of Engineering, respectively.
The student organization was named a co-recipient of the 2020 Student Organization Excellence in Community Engagement award from the Office of Student Life. This award was designed to recognize student organizations whose work over the past year demonstrated notable success in community engagement, one of three domains within the Student Organization Success Framework. FIRST® Alumni and Robotics at Ohio State was also named the recipient of the 2020 College of Engineering K-12 Outreach Award. For this award, the student organization submitted a three-minute video that described their impact over the past year. FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an international non-profit organization founded in Machester, NH in 1989 by Dean Kamen and Woodie Flowers. Their mission is to inspire PreK-12 students to be engaged in science and technology through mentor-based programs.
