About University Rover Challenge (URC)
The University Rover Challenge (URC) is the world’s premier robotics competition for college students. Held annually in the desert of southern Utah, URC challenges student teams to design and build the next generation of Mars rovers that will one day work alongside astronauts exploring the Red Planet.
The challenge requires the rover to perform several relevant tasks, such as delivering objects, manipulating control panels, and test soil for signs of life. The rover must be able to perform these tasks autonomously while navigating the rugged terrain of the Utah desert.

2025 URC Season
TROS started working the URC rover in October 2024, and have worked rapidly to create a working prototype for the challenge. The club is currently continuing to work hard on further developing the robot to make it challenge ready.
Our Goals
- Complete the rover and ensure it has all the capabilities necessary to achieve all the URC tasks.
- Qualify for the URC competition
- Develop student experience with working within the engineering process.
