Khmer New Year GBM – Conclusion

Thank you to everyone that attended the khmer new year 2018 general body meeting last night! As everyone knows khmer new year is the biggest event of the year for KHSA so we’re putting all of our efforts for it.

We’re planning to have the event April 7th, 2018, this date is a week before the actual khmer new year. We’re having ours a week before so we do not schedule our event during the khmer new year at the temple. We’re pushing to have Curl Hall as our event space, but that is still to be determined. The time of the event will be around ~ 2:00 – 5:00 P.M like last year. Our mission is to create a khmer new year event that is educational and inclusive to everyone.

Like last year, we’ve created committees in charge of different focuses for the event:

  • Entertainment:
    • Head: Tieda Choeun – KHSA Secretary
      • In charge of performances
  • Finance:
    • Head: Tony Sam – KHSA Treasurer
      • In charge of the sponsorships and budgeting for the event
  • Logistics:
    • Head: Malina Hay – KHSA Co-President (Internal)
      • In charge of volunteers and event space corridination
  • Hospitality:
    • Head: Jessica Va – KHSA Co-President (External)
      • In charge of event decor, food and overall attendee appreciation
  • Marketing:
    • Head: TBD
      • In charge of social media outreach

The overall theme is centered around khmer new year so we do want to include the 3 days of khmer new year into the one day of our event. By doing this we’re including the main focuses of the 3 days, for example the 1st day marks the beginning of the new year and giving thanks, as a thank you we can give out buttons or flowers to our attendees to place in their hair or shirt for decoration.

We’re in need of volunteers and members interested in helping out please fill out a volunteer sign-up if you’re interested in helping out this year!

Volunteer sign-up sheets are now available: https://goo.gl/forms/KuqwTkRVAbJYayI63

KHSA & the Battle Against Hunger Campaign ’17

Good Evening KHSA??! We are proud to announce that for the whole month of November we will be taking part in the Battle Against Hunger Campaign! The Battle Against Hunger Campaign is a month-long program aimed at creating awareness of issues surrounding food insecurity through food drives, service, and educational events. To play our part, KHSA will be hosting our very own food drive this year! We’re asking our members, to reach out to friends, family, co-workers, or anyone willing to donate to collect cans and non-pershiable food items to give back to those in need. We will be taking all of the cans and non-perishable food items and will donate them to local shelters in need this year.
