Save the Khmer Language Program at the University of Washington

Hello Everyone! The University of Washington’s Khmer Language Program is on the the verge of being cut and defunded for the next upcoming school year. They have reached out to us asking us to help spread the word and to sign a petition to help keep this program that promotes and spreads khmer culture. If you have time it just takes 5 seconds to sign the petition, you just need your name and an email:

They will be discussing intersectionality with Asian masculinity for Men’s mental health for Movember (the nation’s largest men’s mental health program that started at OSU at the CCS). Please come to join in the discussion and/ or to gain more insight on this topic. We’d love to see more KHSA faces join in the conversation!

KHSA Dance Update!

Dance Schedule
Hello everyone!
I am very excited to share our finalized dance practice schedule for the remainder of this semester! These new times were made to accommodate for more members who are interested in dancing with KHSA. Please keep in mind that we are looking for both male and female dancers for our Khmer New Year event that will be held in April of 2018. Auditions will be held for dancers who want to dance for our event and more information will be given at a later time.
What dances are we doing?
I have decided that we will be doing 1 all girl dance and 1 guy/girl dance.
-The all girl dance is called Moon Love and can be found on YouTube as “Raksmey doung chan trea”

-The guy/girl dance is called Useful Kroma and can be found on YouTube as “Chab Meas
( Golden Bird )”

Take a look at these videos in addition to the calendar that I have attached and see if you or someone you know would be interested. I would love to work with you and teach you traditional Khmer dances. Please feel free to contact me at anytime if there are any questions either via email or through GroupMe. I hope these hours work more the majority of the group and I hope to see you at dance practice!
