General Subteam Updates
STEMBot Program Robot Assemble Within the last few weeks, team members have been hard at work fixing up the five STEMBots that will be used in our outreach program starting February 27th. The batteries needed to be redone, a new software activity was created, and the filming of STEMBot assemble was filmed. Without these things being done, STEMBot wouldn’t be able to happen!
Software Team For the last two months, the software team has been integrating our software platform into RVIZ, a ROS based data visualization tool. This will allow the team to more quickly iterate on the robot software and better control the vehicle when in the water.
Here is a screenshot from our customized interface, even showing the locations of the object in the pool!
Puddles Update
Starting in November, team members have begun work on resurrecting our prior competition vehicle Puddles for use in the pool again. They have been reworking the electronics to better match Tempests systems as well as fixing some of the mechanical issues and leaks that were formed on the vehicle after sitting dry for 11 months. The team hopes to have it back in the water by mid March to use as a test and research vehicle going forward!
