Summer break is well underway, but Scarlette Magazine and its creative team are working harder than ever to bring its readers new and exciting content every week. As our members continue to create and share their hard work to the world, Scarlette Magazine is pleased to announce that for the upcoming academic year we have added three new roles onto the executive board.
Clovis Westlund will be Scarlette’s photoshoot director, Katie Gallaugher as the marketing director, and Jordan Hylton as the social events and fundraising director. The upcoming graphics design director will be Jocelyn Bailey.
While they set into their new positions within the magazine, we asked them to share a little bit of their plans for Scarlette next year and what they are most excited about for the upcoming year.
Clovis Westlund
I am very excited to be able to join the e-board as the director of photoshoots. I am double majoring in public affairs and sociology. The reason I joined the Scarlette e-board is so I can better support members in bringing their vision to life and making sure they are proud of the final product that they created.
“There are so many opportunities to have your voice heard.”
The thing I am most excited about for next year is being able to help turn everyone’s ideas into a reality. My favorite photoshoot I participated in last semester was the gender-neutral photoshoot because I was the shoot leader for the concept.
Ohio State students should join because the magazine is run completely by students, so there are so many opportunities to have your voice heard.
Katherine Gallaugher
I’m very excited to be able to help shape the newest e-board position as the upcoming marketing director. I’m a psychology and English double major and will be entering my second year at Ohio State.
“I am most looking forward to working with such a creative team and watching our vision come to life.”
My favorite photoshoot was “The Wild Midwest” because I was able to work with my good friend, Samantha Harden and watch our rough idea go from just a concept, then to a possible blog post and then become part of the print magazine.
I decided to join the e-board for the upcoming year because I love participating in Scarlette and I wanted to be more involved, so I felt like I should take on a leadership role within the magazine.
I am most looking forward to working with such a creative team and watching our vision come to life.
Jordan Hylton
I am very excited to become the social events and fundraising director for Scarlette Magazine. I am a marketing major with a minor in fashion and retail studies.
My favorite photoshoot was the spring “May-Fete” shoot because even though it was a difficult shoot day, I loved how the photos and the article turned out.
I wanted to join Scarlette’s e-board because I wanted to help plan events for members to be able to have fun and get to know each other more. As I join the new e-board I am most excited to be able to get to know everyone better and create amazing photo shoots throughout the next academic year.
I think other students should consider joining the magazine because It’s a great creative outlet and allows you to meet people who are interested in fashion.
Jocelyn Bailey
I wanted to join Scarlette Magazine and its executive board because I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to express myself.”
I’m so excited to help rebrand Scarlette and design visually aesthetic layouts for each magazine issue as the upcoming graphics design director. I’m new to the Scarlette Magazine organization as a whole, so I don’t have any photoshoot experience, but I loved attending Scarlette’s Spring 2023 Launch Party and getting to meet all the amazing people involved in the organization. It was an amazing introduction to Scarlette, and I loved participating in activities related to the photoshoots.
I wanted to join Scarlette Magazine and its executive board because I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to express myself and provide hands-on experience with digital design, which I’m hoping will help me out for my future career as a web designer.
Welcome to the 2023/2024 Scarlette Magazine Executive Board
As the previous president and editor-in-chief of this amazing organization, it is with great pleasure that I was able to introduce the next generation of Scarlette Magazine’s e-board. I cannot wait to see what Scarlette Magazine will create with the many talents of its creative team.
