Fashion Highlight: Olivia Rodrigo’s Style Evolution; From “Sour” to “Guts”

Fashion Highlight: Olivia Rodrigo’s Style Evolution; From “Sour” to “Guts”

Whether you first met the Filipina pop star as a 13-year-old actress on the Disney show “Bizaardvark” or from hearing her debut single “Driver’s License” on the radio, Olivia Rodrigo’s authentic pop-punk style has captivated her fans and left us wondering: What’s coming next?

Rodrigo’s style is constantly evolving and expanding, as she grows, her fashion grows with her. She is well known for her iconic use of the color purple on the cover of her first album “Sour,” as well as shades of red, black, and white which are seen throughout her wardrobe, and all over her Instagram. Olivia Rodrigo uses a mixture of Y2K and 90s styles, combined with eco-friendly fashion in a world where fast fashion has become the norm.

With her newest album, “Guts” coming this Friday, let’s take a look at how Olivia Rodrigo’s style has grown and changed, from “Sour” to “Guts.”

Rodrigo’s debut album, “Sour” was released in May 2021, and as her music became popular, so did the girl herself, especially her style. The album featured songs of heartbreak, anger, of the experience of being a teenage girl, and her fashion was just that of an angsty teenage girl.

This outfit worn to the “Sour” Prom Premiere Party is a great example of Rodrigo’s fun, colorful style. Platform shoes are a staple of hers along with chunky jewelry, and funky hairstyles, all seen here.

The “Sour” Tour featured many of Rodrigo’s most iconic looks, including a white, ruffled asymmetrical dress paired with black choker necklaces. She often pairs her dresses and skirts with fishnet tights and loves a good plaid pattern. She also experiments with layering different patterns, prints, and textures which always makes for a fun, original look.

During her appearance on “The Late Late Show With James Corden,” Rodrigo wore this stunning mini dress covered in a colorful plaid pattern with feather sleeves. She paired the dress with some sheer tights and black platform pumps.

This outfit, worn by the Disney star to the 2023 Grammys, shows a change in her style. This tight-fitted sheer dress is a change from her usual colorful mini dresses indicating a change to a newer, matured sense of style and music.

Olivia Rodrigo’s music video for her song “Vampire,” which will be on her new album, featured the singer wearing this white mini dress with a layered skirt and silver heels.

With Rodrigo’s newest album “Guts” coming out this Friday, we are all waiting to see what the singer will do, and wear, next.

Back-to-School Wardrobe Essentials

Back-to-School Wardrobe Essentials

School is officially back in session and it’s time to dress to impress. Shopping for new clothes and selecting what to wear each day can sometimes be a very time-consuming and stress-inducing process, but it doesn’t always have to be. Here is a guide to putting together the perfect back-to-school wardrobe.

A must-have in every college wardrobe is loungewear, particularly a pair of comfortable sweatpants. To be realistic, not every day is an easy day in college, and being able to have a pair of cute sweatpants to throw on is a must-have. Sweatpants provide an easy way to look cute and comfortable at the same time and can easily be paired with any hoodie or t-shirt.

Another essential piece to every college wardrobe is a pair of good-quality blue denim jeans. Blue jeans are exceptionally easy to style allowing for an effortless, and yet still cute, look. Jeans can be paired with an oversized hoodie, a cute sweater, a t-shirt and anything in between.

Athleisure is perfect for these last few hot days before fall comes around. Athleisure can be cute and comfortable, giving a look that is both sporty and chic without even trying.

Sweaters, of course, are the third essential that must be found in your fall semester wardrobe. Sweaters are the perfect addition to any fall outfit and are great to carry around when the weather begins to cool off.

Don’t forget about the basics. Having items like white and black mini t-shirts and tank tops can help serve as a solid start to any outfit. Basics are items that can be used as a base layer for almost every outfit and adding accessories like jewelry and sweaters can complete the look.

There is a large variety of types, sizes and lengths of skirts that can transform any casual outfit into something a little bit more special. A long denim skirt can bring any Pinterest outfit to life.

Graphic tees are a great way to bring personality to any look. Pairing a graphic tee with cargo pants or a maxi skirt doesn’t take away any level of comfort but does level up your look.

A must-have for any closet is button-ups. With internships and interviews at the forefront of college life, it is important to always have something a bit more formal in the back of the wardrobe. The nice thing about button-ups is that they can easily be dressed down. Pairing a button-up with a tank top and some jeans can give any button-up a more casual feel.

There is so much walking to be done around campus therefore, having comfortable sneakers are very important. A pair of go-to shoes when walking to class or to meet up with friends is a necessity.

Lastly, Jewelry is the perfect way to spice up any look. Some staple pieces include hoop earrings and a few dainty necklaces that you can layer over any outfit.

Pop Culture: Coca-Cola’s Iconic “Tribute to Fashion” Bottles

Pop Culture: Coca-Cola’s Iconic “Tribute to Fashion” Bottles

Over the years Coca-Cola has created many limited edition bottles and cans, including collaborations with artists like Marshmallow and special edition designs from shows like “Sex and the City,” but some of the most iconic Coca-Cola bottle designs have come from famous fashion designers like Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Paul Gaultier.

Before the complete collection of Coca-Cola fashion bottles were released in 2009, Elio Fiorucci designed a few limited edition glass Coca-Cola bottles. The original design was a retro bottle with baby pink lips that read “Love Therapy by Elio Fiorucci” across the front. Another design, given the name “Queen of the Night,” was a blue bottle with a woman on the front, wearing a bright pink dress with blue hearts all over it.

In 2009 came the original release of the “Tribute to Fashion” Coca-Cola bottle designs as a part of the “Tribute to Fashion” charity project. Coca-Cola asked some of the best Italian designers, including Moschino, Donatella Versace, Blumarine and Angela Missoni, to design limited edition bottle designs. The money earned through this project went to victims who survived the devastating earthquake in Abruzzo, Italy back in 2009.

Moschino went all out, creating four unique bottle designs. The simplest of the bunch was a nude-colored bottle, featuring a chocolate drizzle design. The most iconic Moschino bottle design was the ladybug dress bottle that even included its own earrings.

The 2009 bottle, designed by Marni, was one of the simpler designs. The bottle featured a polka dot design that faded from a bright orange to a brown color.

The two bottles designed by Ferretti were among some of the more elegant designs. One bottle featured a black mesh look with ruffles. The other was a purple, velvet bottle. Each design was topped off with a bow and a Alberta Ferretti banner across the bottom.

Fendi’s Coca-Cola bottle designs were more subtle than some of the other designer’s bottles. Fendi’s bottles had colorful polka dots overlaying the iconic Fendi “F” pattern.

Versace’s theme, now more fitting than ever, was Malibu Barbie. One bottle was bright pink with a bubble design, each bubble having the iconic Versace logo in the center. The other bottle featured palm trees and butterflies and most importantly, a blue bottle cap with a pink convertible and miniature Barbie sitting on the top.

Missoni’s Coca-Cola bottle design was covered from top-to-bottom in a colorful chevron pattern.

Blumarine created elegant rose-covered bottles. One a light pink rose petal bottle and the other, a bright pink bottle covered in tiny 3-dimensional roses of varying colors and sizes, some having glitter and others having tiny pearls in the center.

Since 2009, Coca-Cola has continued to partner with fashion designers around the world to create one-of-a-kind Coca-Cola bottles.

In 2011 came the release of the 3-bottle set designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Each bottle, individually numbered 1, 2 and 3, featured different pink and silver designs, all topped off with a silhouette of Lagerfeld and a pink bottle cap.

In April 2012, the Coca-Cola aluminum Jean Paul Gaultier “Night” and “Day” bottles were released as a part of a 3-bottle set. The “Night” bottle featured a corset design while the “Day” bottle featured a striped shirt with a star tattoo, giving an almost nautical feel to the daytime design.

In 2013, Chantal Thomass added a pink, lacey bottle to the line-up. The couture-inspired lingerie brand topped off the design with a black heart-shaped ribbon around the front of the bottle, creating a dreamy, pink Coca-Cola bottle.
