About Our Chapter
Professional Development
Our chapter hosts a variety of events designed to advance the careers of our members. These events provide opportunities to meet recruiters from leading engineering firms, build valuable connections, and secure internships at prestigious companies. Join us to take the next step in your professional journey.
Community Development
Our chapter hosts several events like our annual Noche De Ciencias (Night of Science) to inspire the next generation of Hispanic students to pursue STEM degrees and careers. These events are held in partnership with schools and community in the greater Columbus area to ensure that we are doing our part to give back to the community.
Chapter Development
The MentorSHPE program fosters one-to-one mentoring relationships that support personal and professional growth. Designed to expand professional networks, it enables participants to gain new insights and skills. Mentors and mentees work together to set expectations, define goals, and create action plans with milestones to track progress.
Familia
“Familia” embodies the heart of our SHPE chapter. It represents our supportive network, where members uplift each other, share experiences, and grow together. We are more than an organization; we are a family committed to mutual success and belonging.
We are a group of students at The Ohio State University passionate about empowering young Hispanics to become professionals in their STEM pursuits. We believe in the power of a supportive community and how important it is to have this support as students develop in their academic careers. We are dedicated to developing the professional and academic skills of our members by offering them internship, networking, mentoring, and diversity awareness opportunities. The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is a national organization by which we represent our school’s chapter.
