African Youth League

A family. A community. A legacy.

African Youth League (AYL) at The Ohio State University is a student organization made up of African Buckeyes dedicated to fostering African cultural awareness and positive interaction between African students on campus. Founded in 1994 by Brother Samuel Jefferson, AYL continues to be a vital part of OSU through events that celebrate African heritage, build community, and give back through service and collaboration.

Our purpose is to:

  • Foster unity and understanding among African students at OSU

  • Promote and preserve African culture and heritage

  • Build relationships with other student organizations and cultural groups

  • Serve and uplift the surrounding community
