President: Meagan Gaskill (she/her)

Meagan Gaskill is a DMA student in Flute Performance at The Ohio State University where she has served as a Graduate Teaching Associate for Flute, Music Theory, and Aural Training. She previously served as the Exhibits Coordinator for COFA in 2021 and 2022. Meagan won the Young Artist Division of the COFA competition in 2021. She previously earned an MM in Flute Performance and an MA in Music Theory from Ohio State as well as a BM in Flute Performance and a BS in Mathematics from Pacific Lutheran University. Her teachers include Katherine Borst Jones, Jill Felber, and Jennifer Rhyne.

Vice President: Allie Gerkens (she/her)

Allie is a fourth-year music education major at Ohio State with an instrumental focus. Her primary instrument is the flute, which she currently plays in The Ohio State Wind Symphony. Allie’s notable performances include performing in Carnegie Hall with her choir in 2016 and performing in Mozarthaus (Vienna, Austria) in 2022. In her free time, Allie enjoys going to the gym, playing games, rock climbing, and being with her friends.

Exhibits Coordinator: Katie Sharp (she/her)

Katie Sharp is a second year masters student at The Ohio State University studying with Katherine Borst Jones. She currently serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Music Theory and Aural Training and previously taught in the Musicology area. She also serves as the Exhibits Coordinator for the Central Ohio Flute Association. Katie was a winner of the 2022 Ohio State Concerto Competition. Katie earned her Bachelor of Music in flute performance and French from Baldwin Wallace University. Her former teachers include Dr. Nicole Charles, Randy Hester, and George Pope. In 2021, Katie was a co-winner of the PANdemonium4 Virtual Flute Competition in the collegiate division. She was also selected to perform as a soloist in the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory Convocation several times throughout her studies at BW. Beyond OSU, Katie is a guest artist liaison for the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.

Treasurer: Sofia Geelhood (she/her)

Sofia Geelhood is a third-year student majoring in orchestral instrument performance on the flute. She is this year’s Treasurer for COFA. She enjoys participating in various ensembles both at the Ohio State University and in her hometown of Beavercreek, Ohio; these include the Ohio State Wind Symphony, the Ohio State Flute Troupe, the Greene County Concert Band, and a flute and harp chamber duo. In her free time, Sofia enjoys cooking, reading, and playing the piano.

Assistant Treasurer: Jonathan Mitchell (he/him)

Jonathan Mitchell is a fourth-year music education major in the flute studio at OSU. This year, he is serving as the Assistant Treasurer for The Central Ohio Flute Association. Within the School of Music, Jonathan serves as a School of Music Ambassador as well as a tutor for several subjects through the OSU collegiate
chapter of the National Association for Music Education. In addition to education, Jonathan has recently taken up composition and hopes to pursue it in the future.

Secretary and Website Manager: Braden Stewart (he/him)

Braden is a third-year flute performance major at the Ohio State University. He’s been involved in various ensembles at OSU, including Wind Symphony, Flute Troupe, Symphony Orchestra, Buckeye Philharmonic Orchestra, P4, and Bobby’s Bassoon Brigade. He is currently serving as the Secretary and the Website Manager for COFA. In his free time, he likes to play video games, drink boba, and eat with his friends.

Assistant Secretary: Kayla Reid (she/her)

Kayla Reid is a fourth year student at the Ohio State University studying Music Education. She serves as the assistant secretary for COFA. She has been in OSU music groups such as the the Symphonic Band, Flute Troupe, and other small ensembles. In her free time, Kayla enjoys crocheting, painting, and playing with her two cats!

Assistant Website Manager: Shreeya Yampati (she/her)

Shreeya Yampati is a first-year dual degree student in Flute Performance and Neuroscience at The Ohio State University. She is this year’s Assistant Website Manager for COFA. Shreeya enjoys playing in various ensembles at OSU including Wind Symphony, Flute Troupe, and a Marimba, Cello, and Flute trio. In her free time, she likes to bake, spend time with her friends at the mall, and read books.

Publicity and Social Media Coordinator: Grace Reven (she/her)

Grace is a fourth year music educator student at The Ohio State University. Grace is currently serving as the Publicity Chairperson for COFA. During her time at OSU, Grace has played flute in various ensembles, including Symphonic Band, Flute Troupe, Symphony Orchestra, and The Symphonic Band Wind Quintet. Outside of academics, Grace enjoys working as a seamstress for The Ohio State University Marching Band.

Assistant Publicity and Social Media: Karis Brennan (she/her)

Karis Brennan is a second-year flute student in the OSU flute student. She is pursuing a BA in Music with a concentration in Performance and a second degree in Studio Art. She has received performance achievement awards from her last university, as well as the John Philip Sousa Award in 2022. She is working with the publicity and social media area of COFA this year. In her free time, Karis enjoys connecting with music and art, reading, propagating plants, knitting, and baking.
