The Khmer Student Association (KHSA) at the Ohio State University will be celebrating their Lunar New Year and we welcome all communities to this festival to celebrate, share, and honor our culture and heritage. KHSA will be presenting Cambodian culture and food to the local community and students. This event is an opportunity for individuals that aren’t familiar with the culture to come learn about the local community in the Columbus area. Our mission is to create a New Year’s event that is educational and inclusive to everyone.

KHSA plans to incorporate the main vision for each day of Khmer new year and project them into 1 day:

1. The whole celebration to bring an end of the year and bring in the new year is already a representation of the 1st day of Khmer New Year.
2. We will collect donations during the event to give back as a part of our community outreach. This is a representation of the 2nd day of Khmer New Year.
3. We will pay a tribute to our family and or the people we look up to as a thank you. This presentation of appreciation and respect to our loved ones is a representation of the 3rd day of khmer new year.

KHNY 2018 T-Shirt:

The text translates: The Khmer Students Association

Our very own Co-President External, Jessica Va, made this beautiful design. The T-shirts were inspired by the ‘Robam Hanuman & Savann Macha’, a dance that is inspired by the relationship between a mermaid princess and a warrior monkey from ancient Cambodian folklore. Last year KHNY, our now Alumni members Lisa Lam & Andy Van performed a beautiful rendition of the dance. To make the t-shirts more personal we added “The Khmer Students Association” translation in Khmer.

The shirts are $20 each. T-shirts are LIMITED so we’re offering the opportunity to pre-purchase a T-shirt before the event! You can purchase the shirts now and pick them up at our event! We will be accepting Venmo payments for pre-orders only. We will also be selling shirts at our event but pre-ordering will guarantee that you get a shirt! Please be sure to fill out the form above!

Vendor: Pida Patty

Pida Patty will be selling Hong Kong style waffles topped with ice cream and fun toppings! They will also have French macaroons and cookies to satisfy your sweet tooth! 10% of all sales at KHNY will be donated to our association!
