BuckeyeNeka Sports Day

Buckeyes + Sukaneka! Everyone got the chance to work those muscles as we had our very own Malaysian Sports Day. Most of the games were local favorites to remind everyone of home and by the end of the day everybody was tired out. Winners got delicious snacks and drinks in the form of hampers. Probably one of the most rigorous events of the year.

MASA Hari Raya Potluck

Malaysia is known for it’s diverse set of culture and races. Each race has its own special celebration and festival. Hari Raya Aidilfitri is the special day for the Malay race where delicious chicken rendang and ketupat is served. MASA reincarnated this in OSU by having a potluck where all Malaysians were approached to see if they could contribute a dish to the community and simply gather around to have a great time. The turnout was awesome and everybody went home with content hearts and appetites.

MASA Deepavali Night 2018

Deepavali was just over and the Malaysian Indians had a lot of fun celebrating them. However, we felt it was only appropriate if we showcased the Indian spirit to not only the Malaysian community, but also to the student of the Ohio State University. Therefore, MASA decided to set up a Deepavali themed event which featured a variety of food from all over Malaysia. Not to mention an amazing henna drawing service. The delicacies included tasty Nasi Lemak, Roti Canai with homemade chicken curry, and delicious Roti John. Everyone had a blast with an amazing performance and the ‘Paratha Challenge’. To sum it up, everyone left the event satisfied with full stomachs.

And to sum things up for the end of Fall 2018, what better way than to send off the outgoing batch of Malaysian Graduate with a sumptuous banquet and an awesome commencement. Istanbul restaurant at the Easton Town Center is definitely a must try if you’re around that area and better yet, they have halal meat! These events were to show appreciation to those who have graduated successfully from OSU and are now moving on to get new jobs for themselves. And the smiles on these pictures show exactly how they felt on their last days in OSU.
