Black male student-athletes graduation rates
Research has shown that while Black male student-athletes make up approximately 3% of the undergraduate population at their respective institutions nationwide, they also comprised over half of the football and men’s basketball teams on those campuses. The graduation rates of Black male student-athletes are disproportionately lower than all other student-athletes and undergraduate students as a whole. Therefore, it is R.A.S’s goal to attempt to better understand data on Black male student-athlete graduation rates as well as and mechanisms that can be implemented to help improve these rates across the country.
