On Saturday April 12th, 2025 the African Youth League hosted their 8th annual African Distinction Gala: The African Wedding Party. In light of the wedding theme, this event sought out two African students to play the part of the “bride” and the “groom” that would lead the fake wedding as well as the red carpet livestream.
This event consisted of commemorating students and student organizations for the achievements they have reached in regards to the arts, dance, academics, etc. Superlatives were also awarded to our prominently active general body members. Lastly, a recap of the 2024-2025 school year was presented, with dance from Somali dance group Cabsi Cabsi, along with the presentation of the incoming 2025-2026 Executive Board.

Additionally, AYL announced a fundraiser raffle for the ongoing genocide in Congo, with the raffle winner to be announced at the last general body meeting of the schoolyear.
