About Us

Cultures and Travel Club (CTC) is a student organization at the Ohio State University. The inspiration to start this club came from a film project about the holidays and festivals unique to many people groups that live in and around Columbus, OH. The film was made by three friends (Mathias Dawit, Yang Du, and Sana Murteza) who were a part of the 2019-2020 Global Leadership Initiative. In creating the film, they traveled around Columbus and had a great time attending these festivals and holidays. After competing the film, they decided to continue the project by creating Cultures and Travel Club.

The main purpose of CTC is for people to make friends and have fun while traveling and exploring these different places around Columbus. We travel to various sites, festivals, holidays, and celebrations which often are unique to a particular culture and generally are unique experiences for everyone else. By doing this, we bring people together to form friendships across many cultures and make great memories.

We believe that diversity is one of the most important components of any friendship group because it allows everyone to be comfortable with being themselves. We hope that everyone in CTC can find the supportive friends that allow them to fully embrace their identity. We accept everyone and anyone to join our club, you do not even need to go to OSU or be a student!

We also think it would be really great if this movement spread to other cities or campuses as well. If you are interested in starting a new chapter in your area, contact us to let us know! We can help you get started and also expand this site to include your location so other people can easily find your chapter.

We hope you can come to appreciate the world around us, with us!
