Clinic Trips

What are RAM clinic trips?

The bread & butter of our org!

What: Weekend-long trips to various cities throughout the US (mostly Appalachian & Midwest area)

Why: Opportunities to volunteer at RAM clinics to help offer free care to underserved populations!

Work as dental assistant

    • Help register patients
    • Make lenses in vision truck
    • Sanitize dental tents and equipment
    • Guiding patients through clinic
    • Select glasses for patients
    • Shadow and assistant physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals
    • And more!

How: Trip timelines generally look like this…

    • Friday afternoon – leave OSU for RAM clinic after class
    • Saturday 5am-4pm – volunteer at clinic
    • Saturday evening – explore city, club dinner together, fun activities
    • Sunday 5am-2pm – volunteer at clinic
    • Sunday afternoon – drive back to OSU

Cost: Roughly $75-85 per trip which includes lodging, gas, and majority of food

    • We try our best to partially reimburse!

How can I sign up?

We try to attend 2-3 clinics per semester, & trip interest forms are sent out via email.

Selection is based on club participation, evaluated via a point system that depends on:

    • Meeting attendance
    • Fundraising for the Columbus clinic
      • Individual goal = $50
      • Group fundraiser participation (i.e. Posting bingo boards on social media)
    • Volunteering
      • Canning at football games
      • Tabling for various events
    • Paying club dues
      • Generally about $25 for the year – helps to reduce cost of trips, fund Columbus clinics, social events, etc.
