About TAG

Theatre Arts Group, also known as TAG, is a student organization at The Ohio State University whose mission is to provide opportunities for creative, artistic expression for underserved students of the Columbus area through theatre experiences, theatre education, and mentorship. As an organization, TAG values the importance of collaboration, creativity, empowerment, encouragement, and respect.

Theatre Arts Group began as Sarah Fitzpatrick’s vision in fall of 2014. She wanted to provide students with the opportunity to experience and love theatre as much as she did. After working with the principal at Columbus North International School (CNIS) – a Columbus City School lacking a theatre program – TAG was born. As it gained momentum, more Ohio State University students joined the team. Together, the OSU TAG team won the P-12 Initiative Grant for 2015-2016, which provided the funding and support that allowed the TAG students to write and perform two plays. In 2016, TAG was honored to receive the 2016 Student Group Award for Excellence in Community Service Programming from the Office of Outreach and Engagement.

This organization provides a safe space for its students, empowering them and fostering their creativity and self-expression. In fall of 2016, TAG became an official OSU student organization and has continued to flourish with new members, new insights, and new perspectives. Today, TAG continues to expand its outreach, hoping to inspire the next generation of Columbus City Students.
