Goals of the CCBBI Student Group:

  • Disseminate knowledge on new and current techniques being utilized in neuroimaging research for the collection and analysis of data
  • Increase member engagement in the university as a whole and offer resources to expand the interactivity we have with those outside our own community, such as at social/outreach events and conferences

Meet the Executive Board!

2023-2024

President: Kelly Hiersche

I am a Cognitive Neuroscience PhD student. I study how the brain develops specialized functions like reading and language and how early neural markers may predict function in young kids. When I’m not doing research, I enjoy riding my bicycle, knitting, and playing soccer.

Vice President: Eunjee Ko

Hi, I’m Eunjee! I am a social psychology PhD student. I study how prior experiences related with social inequality influence people’s social cognitions and behaviors, and how this relationship is represented in the brain. When I am not in the lab, I like spending time watching soccer games, drawing, and working out.

Treasurer: Jenny Lin

Hi, I am a cognitive psychology PhD student. I am interested in studying the flexibility and control of working memory as well as the interactions between attention and memory. In my free time, I enjoy reading detective novels, taking a long walk, and painting.

Technical Director: Dan Zhu

Hi, I’m Dan and I am a cognitive neuroscience PhD student. I am generally interested in the neural mechanism of social interaction and how people form social perception based on various aspects. Outside research, I’m a huge movie fan and enjoy playing board games as well.

2022-2023

Thank you, team!

President: William Narhi-Martinez

Hello, I’m William and I am a cognitive psychology PhD student. I am interested in studying how our attention can be guided to certain locations or objects in our environment, and how the items we attend to are encoded and remembered. When I need a break from all the exciting work I do in the lab, I enjoy playing soccer or making music.

Vice President: Minhee Yoo

Hello, I’m Minhee and I am a cognitive neuroscience PhD student. I study the mechanism of preference/value-based decisions with computational modeling and fMRI. When I’m not doing research, I enjoy swimming, cooking, and listening to music.

Outreach Director: Jin Li

Hello, I’m Jin and I am a cognitive neuroscience PhD student. I am interested in the functional organization of the human brain. For example, what drives the emergence of visual word selectivity in the ventral temporal cortex? How does it change with age and experience? When I’m not doing research, I enjoy running and reading/watching criminal stories.

Technical Director: Yong Min Choi

Hello, I am a graduate student in the cognitive neuroscience program. I study how brain processes dynamic and complex visual inputs to create rich and stable perception of visual world. Outside research, I love playing tennis and listening to music.

Technical Director: Elana Schettini

Hello, I’m Elana and I am a clinical psychology PhD student. I am interested in studying the development of severe emotion dysregulation in children and adolescents and the interactions between biological vulnerabilities and environmental risk factors that put certain kids at highest risk. In my free time I like to be with my friends, binge tv shows, do yoga, and foster kittens.

2019-2021

Thank you, team!

President: Allison Londeree

Hi I’m Allison! I am a social psychology PhD student. I study how the brain represents information about rewards (like food, e-cigs, and marijuana) and how we can use this information to make predictions about when and why people give into their temptations, and start new habits. When I am not in the lab, I like spending time gardening (harvesting new rewards), cooking (indulging in rewards), and hiking (repenting for reward indulgence).

Vice President: Heather Hansen

Hi, I’m Heather and I am a cognitive psychology PhD student originally from California. I study how emotion interacts with visual and auditory perception, specifically with regards to an auditory condition called misophonia. When I’m not doing research, I enjoy puns, puzzles, and long walks on the beach.

Technical Director: Paul Scotti

Hi I’m Paul and I am a cognitive psychology PhD student who uses psychophysics, computational modeling, and fMRI to investigate how attention and prior experience may distort our working and long-term memories. I’m originally from Queens, NY and aside from research I like to play board games and meditate.
