About Us

Gamma Rho Lambda National sorority is a social sorority for women, trans women, trans men and non-binary students of any race, culture, or sexual orientation. Gamma Rho Lambda National Sorority is dedicated to providing a social support system for young college students. Gamma Rho Lambda has been referred to as the first national multicultural lesbian sorority; however we are inclusive of cis-gendered women, trans women, trans men, and gender variant people of all sexualities and racial identities.

National History

We were founded in 2003 at Arizona State University based on the pillars of tolerance, diversity, unity, and trust. Shortly afterwards, we were recognized by Arizona State University Greek Life in the Spring of 2004. There were 12 amazingly brave people who founded this organization. Gamma Rho Lambda began as a social group for lesbian, bisexual, transgender and alternative lifestyle friendly female students. The organization then soon began opening up our membership to include becoming a social support system for multicultural cis and trans women, trans men and gender variant students of all sexualities as well as and LGBTQIA+ ally female students. We strive to break down barriers between Greek life and the LGBTQIA+ Community.

Chapter History

Here at The Ohio State University, the Gamma Rho Lambda interest group started with these two brave individuals who wanted to bring Gamma Rho Lambda to The Ohio State University campus. We became an interest group of the spring of 2016. In Autumn of 2016, we became a colony and joined the Multicultural Greek Council. These founding members wanted to create a multicultural sorority that actively creates a welcoming environment for the LGBTQIA+ identified individuals and their allies by forging a culture that passionately celebrates diversity, pursues growth, and fosters familial bonds. On December 2, 2017, we officially transitioned from colony to the Psi chapter of Gamma Rho Lambda at The Ohio State University.
