Everyone is eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the storied Ohio State-Michigan rivalry. It’s been declared the greatest rivalry in America. It’s more contentious than the rivalry between Mac and PC. It’s more exciting than Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner. It’s like Thomas Edison versus Nikola Tesla. And after Ohio State’s devastating loss to Michigan State, the game will be gripping on both sides of the field.
Team: University of Michigan Wolverines. If you don’t know a lot about the team don’t make a fool out of yourself and ask. Just curse them.
Head coach: Jim Harbaugh. Please no one mention that he was born in Toledo, Ohio. His birthright state citizenship has been revoked.
Mascot: Wolverine. The vicious animal is a foil to Michigan’s gentle, timid team.
Player to watch: Ezekiel Elliot. Don’t be surprised if he winds up on the other side of the field. He is so desperate that he will play for any coach who calls his plays.
Stadium: “The Big House”. Everyone at the game will act impressed by how many people can fit in it because they think it’s a house.
City: They’re not Detroit. Thank goodness they’re not playing in Detroit.
Team colors: Maize and blue. In other words, yellow and blue. But they pride themselves on “maize” and often cheer “Go Maize!,” confusing people enthusiastic about mazes.
Team Cheers: Blue! Blue! Blue!, I just blue myself!, Blue man group!, Go blue! Go MAIZE!
Old tradition: For years Michigan student would cross out every letter ‘O’ on campus, until reading words without an ‘O’ proved too difficult for the students.
Marching band: Not the best damn band.
Sundial prediction: It’s not going to be a cakewalk, but it’s not going to be a loss either. The Wolverines will lose on their home turf 27-24.
Kick-off: Noon. Although it’s best to start festivities early, like 5:30 a.m.
Amateur sports reporter and Ohio State fan Craig Treharne will wake up at 11 a.m. and begin tweeting live updates. You can also tune into the game from Ann Arbor, Michigan at noon.
