Anxiously scrolling through Facebook to look for “something American,” Joanna Walker, a student at The Ohio State University, was desperate to share a post in honor of Veteran’s Day. While she had been enjoying the day off at her apartment by watching and live tweeting six and a half episodes of TLC’s hit TV show, “Say Yes to the Dress,” she seemingly had forgotten the reason she was able to sit in her pajamas past noon on a Wednesday was because of the national holiday. “I was just really excited for this TLC marathon because Tim Gunn is making a few guest appearances, and he’s always the sassiest!” Joanna said, in a quick interview we got with her before she returned to her marathon. “I got too involved in live tweeting SYTTD (Say Yes to The Dress) to really remember the sacrifice our veterans make. I love America, I really do. I love liberty, capitalism, AND free trade. I mean we wouldn’t have all these wedding dresses without it!”

On a short commercial break, Joanna eventually found a headline that seemed patriotic enough to fit in with her friends and family on Facebook, including her opinionated Uncle Steve from Wisconsin, who hadn’t talked to her since her lack of flag-waving posts on Flag Day. Joanna, understandably, did not want to seem like a communist or at the very least, unpatriotic. Without reading the article, since “That would take at least 3 minutes and the average TLC commercial is only 145 seconds,” Joanna shared it, and fit right in with her friends and Uncle Steve online.

UPDATE: Joanna’s share has gotten more than 17 likes.
UPDATE UPDATE: Tim Gunn made 5 guest appearances out of the 11 episodes Joanna watched, and helped 5 brides-to-be say yes to the dress.
