It was Jack’s first autumn and he was so excited for all of the regular fall time treats. He was excited to feel the cool air bush against his orange skin and see the leaves turn colors, though he doesn’t have eyes. Jack had been waiting for month. Ever since he sprouted, all he wanted was to enjoy the first cool day of autumn. Little did he know that this would be the last day of his precious life.
Jack saw the old farmer man coming down the path as he did every morning. He scooped down next to Jack’s sister pumpkin Jackie. “Awww,” Jack thought, “how nice of the farmer man to take special care of Jackie.” Then the farmer swiftly broke Jackie’s stem. Jack couldn’t believe the horror in front of him as she died a quick and painful death. The farmer strode toward Jack and he desperately tried to get away. But alas! He was a pumpkin and couldn’t run. The farmer bent over with eyes dead to the world and he snapped Jack’s stem. The world went dark in a flash of white hot pain.
Rest in peace Jack’ O Lantern. May you be turned into the superior pumpkin product. The pumpkin spice latte.
