November Student Spotlight – Jack Reardon

Our final student spotlight for this semester is Jack Reardon! He is a ChemE student from North Royalton, Ohio graduating in spring of 2024. In AIChE, Jack has been a member of the marketing committee, on the intramural volleyball team and enjoys going to the GBMs, company information sessions and networking night. Previously, he has interned with Nexceris in Lewis Center, Ohio where he was an engineering intern responsible for machining and fabrication of equipment/parts to assist fuel cell production processes and performing plumbing and tube fitting for fuel cell test stands requiring different kinds of gasses. Next semester, he will be going on co-op with Parker Hannifin as a chemical/materials engineering intern working with polymer synthesis/characterization for some of their fluid connection products. Outside of the classroom, Jack enjoys long distance running and he just recently completed the Columbus Marathon! He is also involved in research in Dr. Winter’s lab where he researches nanoparticle synthesis methods and previously worked on RNA capturing nanoparticles. He is also currently the president of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity. Lastly, for about 3 years now, Jack has been a TA for Fundamentals of Engineering. Congratulations Jack on all your involvement and contributions to our chemical engineering community!

November Student Spotlight – Eva Boeckl

Our next student spotlight is Eva Boeckl! She is a second year ChemE student from London, Ohio and plans to graduate in May of 2025. A fun fact about Eva is that she has a rabbit named Hazel. This is currently her third semester in AIChE and she is the current wellness chair and plans on running for another position as she loves the organization that much! Her favorite memory from her time in AIChE is going to the recent AIChE National Student Conference in Phoenix, Arizona with the rest of the executive board. Currently, Eva is searching for her first internship or co-op and is very eager to get out in industry. Outside of the classroom, she likes to read, paint, travel, spend time with family and friends and watch movies. If she were to give advice to peers she would remind them to take time for themselves in the midst of hard coursework and a hectic life, even if it is just 5 minutes! Thank you so much Eva for your hard work in AIChE and positive attitude and presence in the ChemE Department!

November Student Spotlight – Nitish Srivastava

Our next student spotlight is Nitish Srivastava! Nitish is an honors ChemE major and biomedical engineering minor student from Dublin, Ohio, who plans to graduate next semester. A fun fact about him is that he has been skydiving! Nitish has been a part of AIChE for over a year now and he is currently part of the intramural volleyball team. He participates in research in Dr. Palmer’s artificial blood lab working on the storage ability of hemoglobin and electrospinning hemoglobin to construct an oxygen carrying scaffold for wound healing applications. Outside of the classroom, Nitish enjoys working out, playing squash and racquetball, and traveling to national parks, his favorite being the Grand Canyon National Park. If he were to give advice to underclassmen he would recommend making friends with those who can help with your assignments. Thanks Nitish for all your hard work!

October Student Spotlight – Fayme Gandhi

The next student spotlight is Fayme Gandhi! She is a 3rd year chemE, with a biomolecular focus, from Lima, Ohio. Fayme joined AIChE her sophomore year to be more involved in the chemical engineering community and found just that within the meetings. She is currently a part of the professional development committee and helps to put together events for students to assist them in reaching their professional goals. This past summer, she worked in Dr. Winter’s research lab developing nanoparticles for biological applications, specifically developing and understanding a new color that could be used for diagnostic tissue labeling for cancer. She is currently continuing this research project. Outside of AIChE, Fayme is involved in the Society of Women Engineers and HinduYUVA. She also participates in research with her physics professor, studying simulation of virus spread and infection. When she is not in the classroom or lab, she loves to shop, work out, bake and cook, read, watch Netflix, hang out with friends and family and play tennis. Keep up the amazing work Fayme!
