Signature Events

Power in Neuroscience currently focuses on these domains. Reach out to hear about trial projects:

  1. PIN FAFSA Mentorship: We partner with local schools and non-profits in Columbus to teach students particularly those with disabilities, from low-income backgrounds, or are underprivileged, and their families one-on-one how to maximize their potential financial aid package. This entails so finances are a less of a burden on their future ambitions.
  2. Neuroscience Outreach Project: We coordinate an event that bring lessons and exposure of the field of neuroscience, what it entails, and what the applicability of it are directly to high school students, mainly from lower-income backgrounds. We partner with instructors from the OSUCOM to host this event as well as neurosurgeons to provide footage of their surgeries and be available for Q&A’s. This early college exposure is formed to give students the upper edge towards their college careers and provide unique opportunities not easily obtained.
  3. Brain Olympiad (PINBO): We coordinate the Ohio State University’s premier neuroscience competition exclusively for students from low-income / underprivileged backgrounds. Our competition involves a tri-stage event between groups of students to challenge them on neuroscience topics. This builds towards the ultimate purpose of motivating participation in competitions, improving their science skills, and preparing them for competitive higher level education.
