After the recent announcement that The Ohio State University’s Dance Team would be representing Team USA in both the Jazz & Pom categories at the ICU World Championships in Spring, dance fans around the world were shocked to see that the United States decided to ditch the team in efforts to bring forth a better representation of OSU internationally.
Despite the numerous other dance groups at the university, the National Dance Association decided that there would be no better group to represent the country than the one student organization that represents America’s values the most: The Sundial.
That’s right! This spring, the group behind Ohio State’s world renowned humor magazine will be traveling to Orlando to compete against the best dancers from around the world by doing what they do best: comedy.
When coach Shannon Mathers was asked to comment on the switch from her team to this group, she told us,
“I think this is an excellent decision. The Sundial brings to the table natural talent and creativity. Meanwhile, we just throw around red neckties to Frank Sinatra. Besides, I wish I was as good of a coach as Henry Levenberg. I mean just look at his LinkedIn page!”
While most of the Sundial’s plans for their routines are underwraps at the moment, we were able to get a sneak peak at their very unique routine which will include numbers such as ‘Ted Carter Please Respond to Our Emails’, ‘Jackbox Night With the Squad’, ‘Princess Sundial Gone Bad’,‘Lantern Diss Track’ and ‘Seriously, Can Ted Carter Please Just Respond to Our Emails?’
The competition is currently planned for April 24-26, 2024 in Orlando, Florida. Although members of the Sundial may not have as much training as the girl on the dance team who was on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, they are expected to give a groundbreaking performance that would make even Kristina Johnson cry more than when her fraud was exposed.
We are excited to see how this soiree into the dancing world turns out for the Sundial as many fans wish them luck. Their number one supporter, however, was none other than THE Abby Lee Miller who had this to say about the group,
“Sundial, you are on the top of my pyramid!”
