In an increasingly volatile global political climate, it’s a refreshing sight when world leaders put aside political agendas for the greater good. At a recent UN summit, all member nations except for Germany agreed that the continuation of art based education would be insensitive to Holocaust victims and their families, after historians found letters which imply that Hitler started World War II out of spite after being rejected from art school. German chancellor Angela Merkel was quoted as saying, “dude what?” when asked to comment on the ban. U.S president Donald Trump criticized Merkel’s remarks, calling her a “Dummkopf”, which is German for “idiot”, on Twitter. Art students worldwide are left scrambling for employment after this controversial decision. When asked what he’ll do for employment, first year student at Columbia Arts School Jack-Layden Mott said that he was “probably going to end up working at McDonald’s anyway.” There have been reports of mobs surrounding fast food restaurants nationwide as former art students seek employment.
