With talks of a U.S. version of the infamous Glasgow Wonka Experience coming to Los Angeles later this year, Ohio State has decided to continue the trend of never having an original idea ever. Thus Ohio State continued this trend as OUAB announced their first event for the 2024-2025 school year, their own version of this iconic event.
As students come back to campus in the fall, they can expect to be treated to a one of a kind, AI, filled event complete with ‘sweet teets’ (Yes, the AI used on the advertisements doesn’t know how to spell treats apparently) and ‘unknown adventures.’
The OUAB will be teaming up with House of Illuminati, the creators of the original event, to bring the event to the Ohio Union ballroom in August. This event will take guests through the Fyre Fest-esque layout including a CandyLand backdrop and bouncy house, a ‘magic tunnel’ of black walls and mirrors, a meet and greet with the Wonka original character The Unknown and the Oompa Loompa meth lab where all guests will be given a singular jelly bean and a half quarter cup of lemonade.
“I’m excited to bring this experience to the United States and especially to THE Ohio State University.” the actress playing The Unknown stated to the Sundial. “I am glad to see this is the type of stuff the tuition money is going to.”
In addition to the experience, food will be sold inside the venue for an extra cost and there will also be an extra charge for meet and greets with Willy McDuff (let us be clear it’s not Willy Wonka, we don’t want to get sued) and the meth lab Oompa Loompa. Therapists will also be available for those who are not chronically online and instead accidentally stumbled in to talk to.
Ohio State students and faculty are excited for this event and for the attention it will bring to the campus.
“I am so excited and honored to have Willy’s open a location at Ohio State. I’ve been a huge fan of the event since the beginning and I cannot wait to see all the AI artwork promoting the event around campus.” OSU President Ted Carter told the Sundial, “it’ll be much better then what’s currently in that ballroom.”
This experience will be a limited time offering at Ohio State for the months of August and September with a Grand Opening to be hosted by OUAB on Tuesday, August 20th. Tickets will be going on sale at D-Tix starting next Monday for $44 which will include basically nothing.
