CLINTONVILLE, OH- After 25 beautiful years of clothing the gay people of the greater Columbus area, the beloved thrift store Rag-O-Rama has decided to close its poetry-slam-flier plastered doors.

For years, humanities majors at Ohio State University have gone to Rag-O-Rama to seek out apparel that signaled their relation to the same-sex, and also potentially an estranged father. The store served as an epicenter for clothes formally owned by older people to find new life in the closet of a 20 something non-binary Lesbian with a septum piercing, and for that it will be dearly missed.

The Sundial sat down with some of the shop’s former customers to see how they’re dealing with the tragic news. One Bisexual student, overwhelmed with emotion, stated, “Honestly, I’m at a loss for words. Rag-O-Rama provided me with my first-ever pair of Doc Martens, and nothing can ever take that away from us. I’ve decided to transfer to Cincinnati in the Spring. There’s nothing left for me here.”

The closure has also affected the finances of those students making their money through the controversial practice of reselling. Depop resellers, the landlords of the indie community, have turned to the Fisher College of Business for financial advice, as well as loan applications to cover the limited edition Lana Del Rey “Love/ Lust for Life” heart-shaped vinyl they have purchased prematurely.

For OSU students who take milk alternatives in their iced lattes, this closing will be remembered as a dark spot in Columbus’ history. With the ushering in of cold temperatures as Spring semester begins, one can only hope that we may find a new location to provide us with $80 cozy grandpa sweaters and “who farted?” tee-shirts.
