Following the recent success of ‘Light Up The Lake’,  The Ohio State University has announced the next upcoming event they plan to use to make America forget they just lost to Michigan.

For the first time since it aired in 1972,  Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will be held at The Ohio State University on north campus. Instead of the iconic ball dropping from Times Square, this year, the dazzling ball will be sent to Columbus, Ohio to be dropped off of a place even better than Times Square; the North Campus Clock Tower.

Being known for rats, subway cars and the New Year’s Eve events, Ryan Secrest and the team behind the annual festivities have been looking to take away the last thing making New York good. After getting drunk at a dinner with incoming Ohio State President Ted Carter, the group finally settled on a better place to host.

That’s Right! This year the ball will be tied to the North Campus clock tower and as the clock strikes midnight on January 1, 2024, the ball will drop below the face of the clock and Brutus shaped fireworks will be shot off from behind the clock.

Starting at 6 am on Sunday, December 31, 2023, Woodruff Avenue will be blocked off as people will be corralled in front of Traditions at  Scott, Blackburn House and the North Campus Rec Center to watch the ball drop. Additionally, the annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will be broadcasted starting at 8 pm hosted by Ryan Secrest with special appearances from Brutus Buckeye, Princess Sundial and Ryan Day and as midnight approaches, a romantic duet between Kristina M. Johnson and Ted Carter.

While Michigian is scrambling to one up Ohio State for this, Ryan Secrest has joined Ryan Day to remind them that it is Ohio against the world.

Student tickets to attend this year’s festivities are limited and will be available beginning next week through D-tix on demand.
